The M&D and East Kent Bus Club has been serving enthusiasts for 70 years. You can view our 70th Anniversary supplement here.
Our name originates from the two bus companies that between them ran a large proportion of the bus services in Kent and East Sussex, and have since formed the nucleus of Arriva Kent & Surrey and Stagecoach South East.
Maidstone & District (founded in 1911) covered a large part of West and Mid Kent now served by Arriva, as well as the Hastings and Rye areas of East Sussex that now fall within Stagecoach’s area of operation. East Kent Road Car Company (formed in 1916) became part of Stagecoach in 1993, but though now trading as Stagecoach South East, the company itself continues to exist.
